Yes. Altar is a plain HTML file with CSS and JavaScript — the same technologies every website uses. It contains no executables, no installers, no viruses. It cannot access your camera, microphone, or other files on your computer. Your antivirus may scan it (that's normal and expected), and it will pass cleanly. You can also inspect the file yourself in any text editor.
Completely. Once downloaded, Altar works with zero internet connection. Plan at your venue, on a plane, anywhere. Your data saves automatically to your browser's local storage — no Wi-Fi needed.
All data is stored in your browser's local storage on your own device — never on our servers or in the cloud. We cannot see your guest list, budget, vows, or any other data. Ever. The only time any data touches our servers is when you enter a license key for Silver or Gold, which verifies your purchase.
Use the built-in backup feature — it exports a small .json file with all your data. On your new computer, open Altar and click Restore Backup. Everything is back in seconds, including your license.
